Recent upgrade: Cant fined mi spel chekor

I really like the recent upgrade in the forum software. However, I now no longer have access to my Firefox spell checker. (It was there a couple of days ago.) If I right click my mouse, all I get is copy, cut, and paste. Anyone else having this problem? How about you IE7 users?

Simon (simon1966) said yesterday in another thread that some of the posting issues between the forum and IE7 have now been eliminated. That is good news…[tup]

Tom, I use IE7 as you note and use the Google Tool bar spell checker. This worked before the forum upgrade and continues to work now. It even corrected your subject line. My suggestion is to dump FireFox and switch to IE7 [:-^]

Sorry, couldn’t resist it! [:D] Just a small jab at all the FireFox proponents that helpfully suggest dumping Microsoft IE at every opportunity.

IE users should try www.iespell.com it resides in your right click menu and works great. I use FireFox and that’s the only thing I miss about IE.

Simon,

Maybe the pendulum is swinging the other way and now we’ll start having problems with Firefox. Actually, this is the only “glitch” that I’ve found so far…

Tom

I fownd my spel chekor and it wurks jus fine.

Well, the upgrade to the new Fire Fox was a mixed blessing here. No spell checker but there is an expanded right click menu.

As for the upgraded site, first I have used it is this post and it is a great improvment. [tup] but I can not see all the smilies (they get cut off the bottom and there is no slider bar on the side to scroll down with) [:(]

I am not anti Firefox at all, actually I have it and keep it updated on my PC as well as IE. Firefox just does not render well on my notebook confining every web page to a narrow strip about 1/3 of my display down the middle. IE6 did a better job of using my display than Firefox and IE7 does a great job as I can use the new web page zoom feature to blow a page up to full screen size. Had Firefox worked better for me, I would have probably become a convert. I have updated display drivers, fiddled with every option in Firefox, but just can not get it to look good.

I agree on ieSpell. Works w/IE 7 [:D]

Now that’s comically.

In Firefox you go to Tools, Options, Advanced then General you will find a option to check spelling as you type.

So hoo nieds a spil chaquer? Eye thenk the’ir ovuraided.

Tom,

I just tried it on my computer and it does not work.

First you must install a dictionary. I have included a link.

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/dictionaries/

It might then work for you, but it does not for me. I use IE6 most of the time and Firefox only occasionally. I wonder how many misspelled words I put out thinking that Firefox was checking my spelling. Which always needs checking.

Nothing worse than getting your smilies cut off [:(!]

Here’s a solution for good Firefox use - get a Mac! That’s what I’m using for Photoshop and web surfing and FF runs a whole lot better than the Apple browser named Safari.

But back to the pc front. I’ve used FF and Netscape with equal ease on a pc with no problem. Won’t use Internet Exploder because of all the viruses it attracts.

Thanks, Bob. As I stated earlier, the FF spellchecker was just a right click away for me up until the forum upgrade a couple of days ago. And I even tried unchecking the “check my spelling as I type” box to see if that might return the SC option to my right mouse button. It didn’t.

Well, I’ll try the link you supplied and see if that doesn’t help. Thanks, Bawb! [:)]

Tawm

I just copy what I type into Microsoft word, run a spell check, and then paste that back into the message box. It works great for me!

CSX,

Although not quite as convenient, that works, too. [:)]

Tom

I didn’t even know that existed until this forum mentioned it existed. I downloaded it and it works great at another forum I frequently visit (United States College Hockey Online). Bummer it doesn’t work here. Apparently the new WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor is overriding the browser’s pop up menus.
