I saw that recently on the CSX/NS joint trackage, there is a cantilever signal bridge that has been installed between Fetner and Camp Polk (on the Fetner-Boylan joint trackage in the cities of between Cary and Raleigh, North Carolina), but the lights never came on yet, about a mile or so east of where the tracks pass on the I-40 bridge. The cantilever signal bridge can be seen next to Chatham Street and this street runs next to the railroad tracks between the Maynard Crossing and West Raleigh where it changes to Hillsborough Street east of the NC State Fairgrounds near the Meredith College (a private womens college) and I want to know is what is the purpose for installing the signal bridge because I never saw it before until about 3 weeks ago at the first time I saw it.
I am unaware of the area, but since it is a recent addition, it may not have completed installation and wiring requirements. tests also need to be done officially. Although it is a bit of time, sometimes it does take a couple weeks to complete things. Just be patient, and I’ms ure it’ll eventually light up.
Construction of the physical aspects of a signal system preceed their implementation by several weeks to several months, depending upon the complexities of the individual installation. Just building the signal bridge is only the first step in the process.
Being a cynic, who works in the construction industry, I’d wonder if they weren’t waiting for a subcontractor to come back and finish the work.
