Recieved New P2K GP9!

Well, My BN Proto2000 GP9 came to the house the other day. I was busy on Friday, so I couldn’t pull it out of the box to try it.

Opened it up on Saturday to look over, put the couplers on, and do a nice thourough inspection on it. Everything looked fine, no damage. Great Paint, great details (for Me!)

I’m still running a DC layout so I could not fully play with all the functions of the sound encoder, but what I could play with I was amazed by it all. Now I’m not the most Prototypical layout or run them this way either. This is jusy a hobby to keep my arthritic hands busy and moving, and something that I can share with the grand kids.

I"m runnning my layout with an older Tech II Power Pack with Momentum, and Brake. Seems to work well with the QSI Sound system. (note to self, check voltages!) The start up sound sounds really neat, and the Diesel engine sounds sound true enough for me.

I’ll tell you all, If you are sitting on the sidelines thinking about purchasing one of these DO IT! I am just flat out amazed how well these Sound, Run, and look. My layout is VERY Unworthy of this unit, and something will just have to be done about that! [;)]

A very Happy Camper here! Thank you Lifelike and Tony’s Trains!

I think they are very nice locos and well worth the asking price although i seldom pay list. Some have posted that they do and do not sound like a prototype GP9, I like everything about them except the horn,so it boils down to personel taste.I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine. Good Luck Terry.

Congratulations!

Enjoy!

NYC,

I just ordered myself one day before yesterday from Caboose Hobbies. I’ve already got a few without sound from the past as these locos are going to be the work horses on my proposed CB&Q "Illiniwek River Branch. I don’t have DCC either, but if nothing else this unit will be for sound effects as it idles somewhere near the Branch engine house.
