In the next week or so, I will be purchasing a brass locomotive, some cars, track and a power/supply transformer. I need some recommendations on what brands/models to buy for an excellent/supreme quality set for my child to build through the years and pass on to the grandchildren.
Can someone please rank the importer/manufacturers (e.g., OMI, Key, Hall, etc.), and recommend a manufacturer and model of (a) track, (b) power supply/transformer with room to grow, and (c) maritime shipping container cars and containers.
Insights on the following decisions I already made would also be helpful:
(a) N-Scale (so we can build a large set over time in a limited amount of space).
(b) Locomotive (Union Pacific) (with a recent model locomotive/number so the actual locomotive will be around in future years. I can take actual train at some point in the future).
