Red and I have became friends, he can under stand my spelling some HOW. (jess yet another Indian joke)
His sort of closes LHS is not as well stock as mine, and I happen to see the Athearn F-7 in freight colors some time ago. Long story made short they are here at my house. After I install the Kadee couplers there of to his bench. I PM him pictures but I was wore out and full of fire water! They where not that great.
I all so happened to send him a picture of the best steam engine I have had yet, a PCM Y-6b. So far there has been nothing close as far as sound, slow speed, and out right pulling power!!! At our Christmass party at K-10 Model Trains it pulled 95 car up a 1.5% grade and never slowed down.
Jess thought it was my Big Boy, so I told him I would post a few pictures of his F-7’s Y6-b and the Big boy to give him a idea of the Big Boy sizes compared to other engines.
Red Horse new Stana Fe freight F-7’s are Athearn super weight RTR DC only engines. A is powered and B is a dummy.
Always wondered why it took two–(or four) F’s to do the same work as a Y-6b (or almost any big steamer for that matter), LOL! But then I’m happily trapped in a 1940’s Time Warp.
Gotta admit though, the more I see of that ATSF blue and yellow, the prettier those locos look.
Foamer, the Saint Joe car is a Athearn kit. I bought a year ago or so, nothing special to me. If you could use it PM me and we can work something out. I prefer older cars that still have there roof walk ways. Could all wise use more Santa Fe or UP cars.
Ken is too modest, he is saving my life by helping me to make wise choices in locos and stock, under his guidance I should be able to afford my hobby and food for the wife and dog.
I can’t thank him enough for setting me up with my very first Atherns…WWAAHHOOO!!
I can’t wait till that beautiful War Bonnet F-7 is zipping around my tracks.
Nope, just old fashion DC Athearn. They are super weight kind, and my F-7 will drag 30 plus cars up my 1.5% grade. I powered the B unit and have yet run out of power. My are passenger the War Bonnets in the rear. Now that I am fully DCC they will get decoders hard wired and more than likely sound.
Hobo, that was a little rude. I was not trying to sell mine, but if a fellow modeler could use it I be happy to help. To me it is a rolling stock, nothing speical.
