RED LETTER DAY Mookie Visits MR Forum (Or The Day The Earth Stood Still)

SPECIAL Edition of the Forum Flyer (Tongue In Cheek of Course [:D] )

RED LETTER DAY Mookie Visits Model Railroader Forum

Neeeeebrraaaassssskey, Somewhere in the United States

Today the earth stood still as THE event of the millennium took place. Mookie, YES, MOOKIE, graced the Model Railroad Forum with her presence. MR forum members were in AWE of her Highness and dazzled by her sparkling Tiara. Trains.magazine forum members were simply speechless when news of her first forum jump became public. Which thread did the royal kitty visit? Moi was checking out Vic Smith’s future purchase for his model railroad. You can also visit his thread: http://www.trains.com/community/forum/topic.asp?page=1&TOPIC_ID=21415
and see for yourself her dissertation. This historical event no doubt has left the forum administrators with grins on their faces (and possibly chocolate cake) in celebration of this special occasion. When and which thread will the Mookster visit next? Sources close to the feline are withholding information as the kitty purrs with glee over her first successful forum jump.

Jim Haguewood reporting for the UP Press (formerly AP Press, now assiimilated) [}:)] [;)] [:D]

Morning Jim!
Me too noticed that visit ! maybe invite her to our coffeeshop?

Got Milk?

Jim - a very nice tribute to the resident cat on the Trains Forum. But you know, these people will think you have dropped your last acorn. They won’t have a clue what you are going off your track about. I am afraid this will cost you a lot of credibility in the neighborhood.

Mookie

PS - I really do like the blue on this forum - it is a “gentle” layout…

Mookie!

I am surprised! Glad you’re visiting!

I was checking out TRAINS yesterday. Was a little dissappointed in the amount of “Anit-Amtrak” sentiments that was being posted by forum members there. I have a lot of respect for CSXengineer98, but I found his view quite surprising.

I hate flying. I’ve used Amtrak before and when the Class 1 railroads conform to the schedules, the service is very good and a heck of a lot better than what greyhound has to offer.

Take care,“Mookie!”

GO, MOOKIE! I just told my 18-pound Maine Coon princess Spooky about your visit to the forum and she murfed and said it was about time, she was beginning to wonder if she was the only Model Railroad cat on the face of the earth. She’ll probably drop you an e-mail as soon as she finishes working on the Yuba River viaduct.
;

Mookie and Spooky aren’t the only cats out there;Cherokee Woman and I have a
17 year old, part Maine Coon;named Virginia Chessie. She came from Va.,and
if you can’t figure out the other, well…[:)]

Has anyone seen my li’l sister? Rumor has it she was lurking around here.

Yeah Carl, we’ll put up reward posters for lost cat. You know this is all Jim’s fault. He let her out to see Vic’s train, and the whole time Vic had a copy in the Trains forum too.[sigh]

OK. It’s gone to far. I’ve laughed at the following wars on this forum:

HO vs N - notice how the O scale guys don’t get involved? They sit there content with their 50 pound engines and fantastically detailed cars waiting for the “little scale” guys to wipe each other out so they can run the hobby.

RTR vs. Scratchbuild - seems like either a generational conflict or a “i can spend more than you” versus “I’m a better modeler than you” thing at times

PRR vs. SP - mostly a regional conflict I think

Digitrax vs. Lenz - sometimes resembles a religeous war

But a model railroad cat??? My Model Railroading Corgi Rufus can beat the fur off of any feline … . . . . . wait a minute. Let me have some more coffee. Ok…that’s better. I’ve been able to tolerate DCC guys, SP modelers, brass collectors and super scratchbuilders . . . . “model railroading is fun”

Welcome Mookie!

Hoy Vey! I let the Cat out of the Bag?

I didnt know I was breaking down any barriers when I cross posted my topic…[:O]

Whats next ? A desktop HO layout in Mookies office drawer? [;)]

Now we’ll have to answer Madame la Mook’s questions about where she should use hardshell or blue foam for her scenery or whether she should buy Blue Box or resin kits…

Good Lord what have I started? [(-D]

I would think that harshell vs blue foam is not as much as a problem as trackwork. You know, ballast does look a lot like . . . . . . . .

Would hate to derail on it!

Kitty litter? What you may not realize is that a lot of 3 rail O guys use exactly that. Swear to God.[:D]

I remember an old Model Railroader where the guy used Kitty Litter for general scenery. Hope he didn’t have a cat!!!

I’ve actually heard such stories here on the forum. Gluing it down helps to keep the cat away, and prevents “brown boulders” form fouling the main.[:0][xx(][swg]

I have to admit i don’t know a lot about Mookie but the last cat i let near my layout…well…my local freight had a strange derailment in a tunnel followed by an awful smell …good thing i had an access port but that was one mess i had a really hard time cleaning and needless to say that was the last cat that came near the trains…Chuck[:D]

SURE [:D] Lots off cows here in the nether lands ! [:D] How do you like it served?

CWCLARK: One more reason to FULLY LINE your tunnels!

I think getting rid of the stupid cat was the best decision i made in this case…in fact I got rid of the wife that owned the cat…had enough of the cat woman thingy…she had 30 cats and 12 dogs at the apex of that marriage…sheez!..the gal was nuts!..I got a big TV box and threw all the cats and dogs in it and took them down to the SPCA…so now I was accused of be’in a cat and dog murderer…she moved out after that and I went and got a lawyer…of course as usual, the judge gives it all to the ex and it was one heck of a way to lose a great layout, but the more i think about it…it was worth it!..layouts can be replaced and so can bad wives…Chuck[;)]

Don’t blame the cat - you picked her!
