It was me who was started one. If you do search on it you can find out why it didn’t wind up as the RR&N. I still have that layout and continue to work on it. I have the main loop, the 2 passing sidings and that’s about it. I did connect the two staging track into a second loop and replaced those turnouts with crossover for non visible loop. Now when a train enters the tunnel it gets gobbled up rather than the engine is one town, the train is in the tunnel and the caboose is in the other town.

I can run 10+ car locals ( I can run longer I just need to come up with a to justify that kind of traffic flow) and my through freights are 20 cars long. really cool to watch a 20 car HO train get gobbled up and 2 1/2’ tunnel.

Do a search on the RR&N and I have posted all my thoughts and findings. If you need more go ahead and ask here or off the forum.

I’m building a layout that was originally based on the design of the Red Rock Northern. Since my room is larger (15" X16’) and has other considerations (doors and windows), I have modified the plan but maintained many of the features. As designed, I feel it tries to squeeze track too close together for much realistic scenery.

I used the RRN plan as a base and modified it to my preferences and think it’s awesome. The RRN was 9’ x 11’…mine is 8’ x 10’ and I decreased the size of the inside area to 3’ x 5’. It’s the best plan I found.
