Regional Railroad and Shortline Thread FOR EVERYBODY!

Since theres a thread for Conrail and CNW, heres a thread that people can post about Regional Railroad Operations, Shortlines and their shippers. Since this is for no specific railroad, anything that does not belong to KCSM, KCS, FXE, FSRR, UP, BNSF, NS, CSX, CP, CN and AMTK is can be discussed.

I thought after not one, but two spoof threads we would be rid of these…obviously I was wrong.

Chris: I’m hoarding a good supply supply of needles. Keep poking and jabbing before we wind up having to buy a loom![:D][:D][:D]

Does anybody have any info on the Seattle and NorthCoast Railway

there’s something to be said… i yeah, i remember

gimme i HOO HAW WISCONSIN AND SOUTHERN!

and here’s to hoping they’ll one day reach the Eau Claire area. and long live WSOR. it’d be neat if they connected to track operated by Wisconsin Northern

MC, how big is that supply of needles?

I’m a huge fan of regional and shortlines. One shortline that’s been doing very good lateley is the Iowa Northern Railway. Formed in 1984, IANR operates primarily ex-Rock Island trackage. Industries have been popping up left and right over the past few years on the Iowa Northern. The current motive power roster is 12 GP38-2s, a F40PH (for a passenger train IANR runs on occasion, but it’ll be used in freight service too), and a GP20, which is currently down due to bad traction motor cables.

The F40 is in the RI passenger scheme, and the GP20 is all-maroon with yellow safety stripes. The GP38-2s wear a a CP-inspired paint scheme.

That IANR scheme is very smart looking.

and only 14 locomotives, I guess thats tons for a shortline [:)]

how many miles of track do they own/run?

Not Only That;HOW LONG are they!!!

oo that Iowa Line looks really nice. love the nose stripes. i hope they grow too

Bet those needles are GOOD for POPPIN’ things too…LOL…

LC

Lots of good short lines out there. Now we just need to create more. Any predictions about where more track will be spun off by the Class 1s??

Id like to see the Old RI line across MO become a important Intermodal line

I love GWI railroads Genesee Wyoming (GNWR) Buffalo Pittsburg (BPRR) and Rochester Southern (RSRR).
