Relaxation........

is sitting at my computer, in the train room, listening to a lash-up of 2 powered & a non-powered BB SD40-2’s haul a manifest freight around the track at “notch” 4.

Nice & relaxing [Y]

Interesting! Today I pulled a chair around to the partially sceniced side of my little rr. With the layout at about recommended viewing height, I watched (no sound yet) an RS-3 doing slow laps around the layout, disappear behind the trees, reappear through the rock cut.

Must be the weather or something, that called us to just sit and watch. Definitely relaxing.

Have fun,

Richard

After the Tampa/Pittsburg game last night I was downstairs just watching my 3 new Athearn ONR GP38-2’s do laps on my layout. They needed to be broken in and the wife went to bed so I grabbed a couple beers and next thing I knew it was 1:30 in the morning, lol. It’s funny how relaxing watching a train on a layout can be.

Gord, you going to Newcastle today for the Soper Valley flea market? It’s not very big but you can usually pick up stuff dirt cheap. I picked up some buildings last year for 5 bucks a piece.

I may go in the afternoon with Liam, not sure yet. Need to go to work for a bit today.

Last night, I parked the BB’s & pulled out my Stewart C630 & did the same thing. 'Notch" 5 & the same 20 car train.

Did some switching last night. Amazing how fast time flies sometimes.

For the Ontario crowd, there’s a new GP40-2 that should be available soon if not already.

Gord, it’s over now. It was only on until noon but the Pine Ridge club has an open house this afternoon.

Hamiltnblue, I got the 3 ONR ones on preorder. They should be here soon.

Like most of us, just sitting and running trains. Letting a through freight make laps on the main while I get steam up on one of the Shays. Making up the Piru turn in the Seaside yard and working around the freight. Building rail cars is also one.

How about craftsman kits? Anyone relax with them? I have built many, but they are work for me.

Dave, Didn’t get home until 1:30, good thing I didn’t drive straight there.

Da Wife mentioned she saw signs for the show. Was thinking about going then you mentioned it was the local guys open house & quickly lost interest. Not that they don’t do a good job about it, they & I have a difference on what is allowed on tracks as the last time I chatted with them group about that issue, they only allowed certain eras to run which is perfectly fine, love the idea, just not in line of my vision.

Sometime soon, I’m going to wire the yard so I can do some switching while running on the main.

To dream!! [;)]

I agree that craftsman kits can sometimes cause a little stress, especially if I haven’t done any fine detail work in a while, but non-the-less I find them very rewarding. I kinda like the feeling of holding up the finished product and saying to myself that “I did that!”

Dave

Gord, the Pine Ridge guys just had their elections so maybe things might change. The Soper Valley club just started working on a free mo style layout that looks interesting. I kind of wish my club would start something like that.

Sweet Dave.

My whole issue with joining anything like that is the willingness to allow Athearn BB’s on their tracks. PR & Scarborough would not allow them. I have too many of them not to see them run.

Another thing both of them have that doesn’t turn my boat, is both clubs stick to one era.

I refuse to stick to one era. But hey, that’s just me

I guess we’ll see.
