I want to use code 55 on my HO main and there is flex track avalable in that. my problem is that no swiches are comerically avalable and do I get kits or buy up a bunch of long long N ones and transfer it to guage. i tried the latter with a badly worn one equivelent to about a # seven in N and it might be suitable to store speeders on but anthing else it ither falls over or pops off the track. Intresting waching my SD9 try to take it.[xx(] [angel]
Another option is to handlay your own code 55 turnouts. There seems to be a myth than handlaying gets harder as the rail gets smaller, but a myth is what it is. With the smaller rail, much less filing is required, and the soldering is easier and faster. You can spike down code 55 rail, and HO scale RP-25 wheel flanges will clear the spike heads easily. If you’re interested, I’d suggest reading Tony Koester’s article on handlaying turnouts in “Trackwork and Lineside Detail for Your Model Railroad” (Kalmbach Books). It also helps to use weathered rail, because the weathered coating makes it easier to see the results of any filing. Good luck, Andy
