Exactly how many are left, and what are their numbers?
I do know about the 844 and another, the 814(FEF 1), but those are the only ones I know about.[%-)]
I know of two that are still around. One is in the Cheyenne roundhouse being used as a parts source for the 844. The other one is on display somewhere in Utah I think. Not sure of the numbers but I believe they are FEF3’s.
For basic steam locomotive questions go here: http://www.steamlocomotive.com/
There are four UP FEFs remaining out of the 45 built by ALCO. The 814 an FEF-1 is at Council Bluffs, Iowa. The 833 an FEF-2 is at the Ogden Union Station in Utah. And the 838 and 844 are FEF-3s usually found at the Cheyenne Roundhouse in Wyoming, though the 844 does tend to get around a bit.

In my original post I forgot to mention the 838. I have seen it, but the tender is seperated from the boiler, and somewhere or just gone.[:(]
