Remote control Locos / layouts

Read an article in last months fine scale modler about remote control locos/layout as the future of model railroading. I just read in this months magazine about a guy who actually uses remote control for his layout. He says he can run a loco about 3 hours before it needs to be charged. He also stated how nice it is to be without all the potential wiring problems etc as used in todays layout.

Just curious if anyone has any more info on this subject??? Thanks, Mike Pedri

What scale is this r/c loco? I’ve been told there aren’t any batteries small enough to fit in an HO or N loco that can hold a charge that long…

Yeah what scale was using R/C?

I use R/C in G scale. But I use DCC for my HO layout and AC (no command control) for the O scale layout.

If it’s G scale, running by remote control is nothing new at all – I do it all the time using the AirWire900 wireless DCC system and rechargeable batteries. But anything smaller, except perhaps O scale, and you can’t fit the batteries into them.
