Remote DCC/Bluetooth DCC/BTDCC

Hi all.

I came up with an idea that was inspired by another user with their creation - RCC, My idea is Bluetooth Enabled DCC for locomotives to operate via a mobile device or a BTDCC remote, What do you all think of this?

I’m curious to hear what you all want to say

It’s under heavy development currently, on my HO Layout updates will come soon!

see Blunami

another serious modeler found little interest by several manufacturers in the idea. It’s not purely wireless since locos still rely on power from the track. The benefits of two-way communication are limited

smartphones can be used to control locomotives via JMRI running on Raspberry PIs connected via USB interfaces to proprietary systems

How is that different than Soundtraxx Blunami?

I agree. It sounds to me like Blunami.

It’s completely different actually

It’s going to have its own line of officially licensed locomotives and rail cars don’t have a name yet though but most units use a custom PCB with an Operating System that by default connects or sets itself to available to an BTDCC remote or the BTDCC mobile app on Android or iOS it also works with Apple Watches and Samsung and Google Smart watches (or at least expected to)

what are the benefits over JMRI/smartphones?

For the Mobile device end of things, the UI is going to be User-Friendly and will have the ability to change the location of each control, and to connect to a locomotive, you need to have Bluetooth on and have the BTDCC Consist override option to ON if its off the other locomotives will not move that way an equal amount of power and throttle is applied to each unit and trains don’t get mixed up

Here’s a current beta mockup of the app on iOS

iOS/iPadOS Requirements:

  • iOS 12 or Newer
  • Minimum of 50MB available
  • Bluetooth
  • Wireless Capabilities/NFC Chip

Android Requirements:

  • Android 5 or Newer
  • Minimum of 40MB available
  • Bluetooth
  • Wireless Capabilities/NFC Chip

Hornby also have introduced a range of decoders that can be operated by Bluetooth or by DCC. Cheers Mike S
