removing a proto 2000 f7 shell

I need to remove the shell of a proto f7, which is snapped on and want to do it without damaging the shell. Any suggestions. Thanks. Jim

The one I worked on was an older model but I would think it would still be the same. Remove the front coupler and box. Spread the sides of the body and the chassis should come free. It the chassis is like the one in mine it has high sides and a high back.

When doing so as Jeff describes, hold the loco a few inches above a padded surface as you spread open the sides w/ your fingernails. Sometimes you may need to jiggle or help it drop. Don’t remember if the latches are part of the shell or incorporated into the removable window glazing as other Stewart, IM etc. Window glazing piece may loosen and need to be repositioned to replace the shell.
