Removing Arhearn Genesis sideframes

Do the truck sideframes on Genesis F units snap off and on or is there a latch somewhere that must be released first?

I think you have to remove the motor gear cover (on the bottom of the truck assembly) first in order to slide out the truck sideframes.

The sideframes are held on by the bottom gear cover. The cover is held on by a few small latches, which can be released with a small flat blade screwdriver. The latches like to go back together, so use a second flat blade to hold the gear cover apart from the truck just enough to keep it from snapping back together. Once that’s off, the sideframes will slip out. It’s the same for Kato, Stewart, Atlas, and most newer Proto.
