Removing details from BLI Mike

I’m in the middle of a loco conversion project using a BLI Light Mike and need to remove one of the brass detail parts applied to the boiler shell. Unlike the other details which are mostly press fits, these seem to be more permanently secured in place. So I’m looking for idea of how to remove the offending part. Any thoughts?

thanks

Rail nippers?

Then either press out or drill out (gulp!) the remaining stem, and backfill with putty, sand, etc.

You should be able to see, from the inside of the boiler casting, how the part is attached: it then becomes fairly easy to determine the best way to remove it. When all else fails, I find a cut-off disk in my Dremel works for just about anything. [swg]

Grab the part with small pliers, and gently twist and pull at the same time. It’ll pop right out (I’ve stripped three BLI Mikes and have had to do this to some parts on each)

Yep…that worked great for removing the valve cluster on the boiler top. Just two very small holes left that I filled with a drop or two of acc, followed by a little sanding.

thanks!
