Removing Engine From Marx 1666 Locomotive

Hello again,

Thanks for all your replies regarding cleaning the reverse mechanism in my Marx locomotive.

In order for me to clean it, I need to remove the engine from the shell. I have never done this before, and that is my next question, can you tell me which screws to remove, etc.

I’ve never worked on a 1666, but on my 666, removing the screw on each side of the locomotive just behind the steam chest allows the front of the motor to drop out of the shell, then a sliding the motor forward releases the tabs on the back completely freeing the shell.

I’d imagine that the 1666 comes apart much the same way.
