I just poured a water area using Envirotex and I pretty happy with the result. Now I have seen plenty of videos on creating water effects, but I haven’t seen anything on how one would remove it. I am assuming it’s permanent but should something be changed, what do you do? Not a real big problem, just a question.
I guess it would depend on the base that you poured it on. I don’t think there is a chemical that you’d want to use to remove it. If the base is plywood, you could probably cut it out with either a drywall saw or a Sawz-all. Once the area is cut out, you could attach another piece of plywood or foam to fit the hole (attaching it from underneath).
The easiest and safest way is to follow Marlon’s advice. I certainly wouldn’t mess with any chemicals in an effort to dissolve this stuff, just cut it out, patch the hole, and start over.

That is what I thought but didn’t know if there was another way. It was laid on top of painted extruded foam so it won’t be hard to remove it and just replace the foam. Thanks
The main purpose of Envirotex is to provide a very durable finish to bartops and other such areas, so it dries to a very hard surface. I doubt that anything would dissolve or remove it short of a flamethrower or some type of chemical that you’d have to have a special EPA hazardous materials permit to purchase.
Since you placed it on foam, it would be far easier to remove than if bonded to plywood. You actually may even be able to pry it and have it rip away from the foam. The only trouble is the foam will be mangled anyway.
I will not be concerned about destroying the foam. I just don’t want to create a toxic waste dump in my basement - LOL.
If you follow cacole’s advice and use a flamethrower, be sure to post pics. [swg] But, since you poured it over foam, that makes it even easier. Cut the foam out, and patch in a new piece.
