I have a bunch of Imex diecast trucks and would like to remove the decals from them that were applied at the factory. I have tried GooGone and ended up scratching the finish somewhat. I have also tried hair spray and while this removes some of the decal, it also removes some of the paint…Any suggestions or should I just repaint and if so what kind of paint would you recommend…Any suggestions appreciated…Michael
If I recall correctly, I removed the REA markings from one of these trucks using Micro sol and a rubber eraser. Put a little of the micro sol on the marking you wi***o remove, let it sit for a few seconds and then rub with the eraser. It may take several applications, but be patient - it does eventually work.
I’ve used this method to remove factory markings from a number of box cars, etc. as well as some 1/24 diecast police cars where I wanted to change the markings and it has always worked pretty well. You could even try it without the micro sol first if you’re worried about damaging the paint.
Thanks a bunch…I’ve tried the eraser and it’s working somewhat…Michael
