Removing lettering from Bachmann On30

Before I go thru the usual suspects of lettering removal, was wondering specifically if anyone had removed lettering from Bachmann On30 equipment, especially a locomotive. I really want to preserve the paint on a 2-6-0.

Thanks

Ricky

One technique that has worked for me to is to soak the lettering in a decal solvent, like Walther’s Solvaset, and then attack it with a bristle brush. Sometimes a hobby knife or other scraping tool is also required. If you work VERY carefully, and keep reapplying the decal solvent, you can usually remove the upper layer without doing a terrible amount of damage to the underlying paint. In an ideal situation you are simply going to decal over the same area anyway, and the new lettering will hide any scratches that do result.

I have the same problem, most of what I have tried has not worked out. I plan to talk to Lee Riley of Bachmann at the convention to find out. If this subject is burried when I get back and have an answer I will start a new post with the answer.

I would be very grateful for a zip file if you could send one, thank you Lloyd

Done deal. I included the one about removing freight car lettering. Be aware, your mileage may vary. I am just treating this link as a suggestion. This guy is a good modeler and does articles for RMC.
