I have a Proto 2000 car I would like to reletter. Any thoughts on the best product to use to selectively remove the existing lettering with out damaging the paint. I would prefer to keep the dimension data, etc so I’m looking for something I can brush on to certain areas.
the lettering is paint - of the same chemistry as the rest of the paint on the car. Anything that removes the lettering will also remove the paint. So work carefully. 91% Isopropyl Alcohol on a Q-tip is one method. Another is an ink eraser.
A sanding stick with 800 or 1000 grit sand paper is another option. Take a 1/4" dowel or wood pencil, bevel the end at 45 degrees, glue on a small piece of sand paper.
