Is that the liquid that comes in the glass bottle with the brush? Not the gel in the tube or black plastic dispenser?
Easier way. Cheap nail polish remover (non-acetone) from Wal-Mart. Put a little on the corner of a paper towel, dab it on the graphic and poof! It’s gone! Doesn’t hurt the paint either. It works in less than a second.
I used 99% alcohol to get mine off, took forever! I’ll try the glue or remover if I have to do it again!
How does the nail polish remover work for removing paint from model trains? I have a Spectrum 4-8-2 that I just want to remove the lettering from and put new decal letters on. I tried removing lettering with alcohol and a q-tip on an old Spectrum diesel shell, and it removed the lettering but left a noticeable smudgy area on the paint underneath. I really want to be able to lift off just the lettering without having to repaint the whole shell.
Whoa !!! Don’t use nail polish remover on plastic !!! The Malibu vehicles are die-cast metal with a hard baked on finish. You were even lucky with the alcohol as you noted it was starting to attack the underlying finish. If you want to remove just some lettering, I’ve had good success using some Solva-set and a Q-tip. It ain’t quick by no means, but you run little risk of damaging the base finish.

take my advice. dont try it! nail polish remover attacks the plawstic and will make it melt
Hey, I was just asking about the nail polish remover! [:I] So it’s bad on plastic… OK, noted. I’ll give the decal solvet a try. I have a bottle of it I just got with the decals I plan on putting on the loco after I remove the existing lettering.
