Amtrak’s Superliner II sleeping cars have all had names on them…all 50 states plus District of Colombia and special AutoTrain names…BUT, according to 4rr.com, upon painting these cars in the new Phase IVb paint scheme, the state names will be removed! 4rr.com says that the reason they are is because passengers on the train argued with Amtrak attendants that they assumed that the cars were going to that state. OUTRAGEOUS! If a car named “Iowa” is traveling on the Coast Starlight, do you think it will travel through Iowa? Probably not!![:(!]
Yup, that’s crazy. Some people just lack thinking power.
Welcome to the forum SchemerBob.
Just one more example of the Dumbing of America.
I don’t think it’s all that stupid of an asumption for people to make.
You’ve got to keep in mind how little most people know about RRs and how they operate.
If they were named like Pullmans used to be named, perhaps there wouldn’t be confucion. Unless there was some clown by the name of “Matthias Baldwin” that thought the car was entirely his.
