Removing P2K GP9 wieghts

Greetings,

How do you remove the large wieght from the frame in a P2K GP9? I have removed the two screws at the ends of the frame (next to the coupler box locations), but the wieght still refuses to come free from the frame, even with gentle plying.

Thank you.

perhaps a screw or two in the fuel tank?

First remove the plastic fuel tank by gently pulling it down. (it is held on by sticky 2 sided tape)

Under the sticky 2 sided tape you will see 2 brass colored screws. Just push the screwdiver through the tape and unscrew them.

Thank you very much!!! With your help I got the wieghts off. I did not see those brass screws in the fuel tank which were covered by the double sided tape! Now to do some maintainence. When I purchased my 2 GP9s they ran very quiet: however after being unused for over a year they now have developed a squeal in the gears or drive train. I have lubed them and replaced the axial gears with new ones (eg documented gear splitting problems), to no avail.

Badger.

Badger,
I have an early P2K GP9 with the same problem. I haven’t had a chance to tear into it yet but from the research I’ve done I believe it’s the bushings for the worm gears that cause this squeal. You may want to give that area some close attention and see if it helps.

Good luck!
Steve
