Removing Paint

I just recently acquired a pair of Atlas C-Liners off of eBay. I do plan to use these for a kitbashing project. But there is a small problem.

The one locomotive has a light coat of yellow, but in some cases the paint is very thick. The other has a thick coat all the way around, limiting the vent details.

Is there anything I can to do remove the whole coat of paint without scraping it all off?

not sure how to post links, but check out the “pine sol” thread.[;)][:)]

again, sorry i’m not sure how to post links, but i checked and it was at the bottom of page 9, probably on page 10 by now.[:D]

Ah…Thank you Iginc.

When you find the topic you want to link, right click on the topic title, choose “copy shortcut”, then in the post where youwant to add the link choose “insert hyperlink” and the paste the short cut. If you want link a specific page, copy the address for the page from the address bar of that page and paste it as above.

thank you!, modelmaker51.[:)]

You could just buy “Paint and Decal Remover” from Polyscale. I’ve used it on several models and it romoves the paint easily with just a brushing on, rinse with water.

I soaked my locomotives in denatured alcohol and it worked great. The paint came off in sheets. it worked better then pine sol for me. But whatever you use, check to insure that it does not damage the plastic.
