Removing screws in EM-1 tender

There were lots of good tips in the thread on holding tiny screws while you put them in but what about the opposite problem? I bought the Bachman EM-1 along with the sound module and the instructions call for removing the screw from each corner of the tender. They are very small and at the bottom of a relatively deep hole. It’s impossible to see what you are doing and working by feel doesn’t work. Any ideas would be very welcome. Right now I’m trying to decide between using a hammer or a crowbar.

Thanks,

Werner

These screws are really ’ really tight , but using a small jewelers phillip heads screwdriver firmly you should be able to crack’em loose.

My approach where even strong light can’t illuminate the work is to insert what seems to be the correct tool, wiggle it gently with some pressure and see if it will seat itself reasonably positively. If it does, and my fingers sense that it is a decent fit, then I triple or quadruple the downward pressure and rotate the tool anti-clockwise. There may be a stiffness and a sudden break, but it should be the screw head freeing itself from the friction, hopefully not from its threaded shank. [:|]
