Removing the boiler from a late run Walthers P2K USRA 0-6-0

I need to remove the boiler to replace the cross head guide. I removed the screw from the stack and find no other screw that holds the rear to the frame. I tried all the visible ones. The front of the boiler is loose but the back is not. Anyone know the secret?

I don’t have the 0-6-0, but on my early version (no tender pick-up) of the 0-8-0, the screw at the rear which holds the cab/boiler assembly in place is hidden by the drawbar, so the drawbar needs to be removed to gain access to the screw. Of course, on your 0-6-0, the set-up may be different: the front end of my 0-8-0 is secured by a screw passing up through the steam chest/smokebox saddle. [swg]

You shouldn’t, however, need to remove the boiler to replace a crosshead guide - simply pull the original one towards the rear of the loco, using pliers, then insert a new one, pushing it into place.
If you’re talking about the valve gear hanger, though; yes, the boiler assembly needs to be removed, as the hanger is mounted atop the loco’s frame.
