Renovations planned for Lancaster station interior

Antique-style clocks on the platforms. Now that’s real class. Reminds me of this one: a man from a certain European country known for its punctuality visited an island nation known for its whiskey. At the railway station, the man saw that each of the two clocks was showing a different time. He told the stationmaster, who replied, “And tell me now, why would I be wantin’ two clocks if they both showed the same time?”

Lancaster remains one of my FAVORITE stations having come & gone through there more times than I could possibly count over the decades. The trains stopping there and the clientele using those trains have both certainly changed over the years, but I would wager that there are probably MORE people passing through this station today, than there ever were, even in the days of Pennsys “Blue Ribbon Fleet” which I am too young to have experienced. Lancaster Station is truly a temple to time and travel.

Can someone explain why the platform/train boarding area still looks like some third world outpost after so much money has been spent? Do any of the planners/thinkers/bureaucrats understand that this is supposed to be a transportation facility and funding should be used for transportation related work like platforms/ADA access/ etc. OK, so today no trains originate at Lancaster but to only use one platform (2 tracks) when more exist seems very shortsighted.

Hope Amtrak fixed the problem that commuters were having with the station being locked in the morning prior to train times.

These clowns must have previously worked for LIRR! You know, the one with the slogan - going your way, but taking all day!
