Hi, how do I repair a broken axel bushing that needs a repair on an HO locomotive??? what matirials do I use if I don’t want ot buy another set of wheels, thanks!
Depends upon the model of course. If it’s a brass bushing you can solder any breaks or cracks and file the joint smooth. You might be able to make a replacement from brass stock. Try McMasters Carr for all sorts of brass shapes. You might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer, or NWSL, or ebay. You might be able to find a junker locomotive for cheap and cannibalize the needed bushing. Good luck. And post how you fixed it, we would all love to hear.
A little more information about the locomotive might help generate more responses, and a picture of the loco and of the damage would be a great help.

Hello All,
Is it a bushing or a gear?
There is a difference between the two.
Hope this helps.
Or a bearing? That makes three!
Cheers, Ed
I’ll toss in another one, diesel or steam makes a huge difference.
