Repair of HO steam locomotives

Need contacts for steamer valve linkage repair. Parts and fasteners, pins

and cranks. I have a Proto Lifelike 2000 2-8-8-2 with three damaged

return cranks in the walschaerts linkage. surely someone has had this need

and can provide some advice.

First, I’d try Proto (now Walthers) and ask for spare parts. Then I would think about making replacements out of brass. Then I would google with as many keywords as come to mind (Proto, valve gear, whatever). Then I would check E-bay for either parts, or a junker locomotive. Then I might find a model railroad club, go to their working night bringing the locomotive with me. Someone is bound to know something.

Bowser/Greenway/Precision Scale all have parts, but I would hit up Walthers first

Thanks for the advice. Tried them all and Precision Scale seems to have what I need. I will call them tomorrow.
