Replacement bulbs for MTH Blue Comet cars 1420, 1421, 1422

Last week I picked up a set of Lionel standard gauge Blue Comet passenger cars, 1420, 1421, and 1422, made by MTH in 1990. Don’t think I need replacement bulbs now, but I’m thinking ahead to the day that I will. A slip of paper that comes with each car says “Replace the lamp… with a Lionel MS-16 (clear) lamp…” I’m not finding any information on what that bulb might be. The bulbs that came with the cars are screw base and stamped 1447 but they are noticeably larger than the 18-volt 1447 small globe bulbs I just purchased. I think the small-globe 1447s I have are G 3.5, and the ones in the Blue Comet cars might be G 4.5. Not finding any 1447s in size G 4.5 for sale. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Pretty sure that a G4.5 E10 base will work – the problem being to find that size in 18V.

You may wind up having to work up a suitable LED in an E10 base, and carefully remove the G4.5 globe and glue it to the base. The problem then will be color and brightness matching to the other incandescents…

24v bulbs are often far easier to find, and last nearly forever on 18v–and they aren’t even all that much dimmer!

I’ve always used 432C’s.

Thanks everyone. 432C makes sense.

Thank you, Thatguy172. https://www.superlumination.com does carry the clear 432 bulb with screw base. While I was at it I picked up a 1442 pear-shape frosted bulb for a Lionel 58 lamp post, and a couple of 526 frosted bulbs for a dark green double lamp post with round base that probably isn’t Lionel but I’m not able to identify it even after spending considerable time combing the web.
