Replacement valving for HO steam engines

Hi, Does anyone know makes replacement valving and rods for HO steam engines. I just bought several brass engines. The engines run great, but the previous owner lost the parts, when he had disassembled the engines for painting. On one, the original builder plate is gone, but I assume that to get them from the importer 20-30 years later would be a miracle. aAny help would be appreciated.

If I was in your position, I’d start by contacting the brass collecting people that advertise in the mags. Between them and online detective work, you may be able to locate parts at a swap meet or a vintage collectors spares pile. Otherwise, I think you may become a scratchbuilder in short order. If you can identify what type of engine you’ve got, you should be able to find some photos or drawings showing what type of valve gear and piping layout it had. Good luck lad.

Finding replacement rods and valve gear for brass steam will be next to impossible. They will occasionally show up on Ebay from time to time, but the odds they will be for your engine is slim to none. You’d be better off waiting for a junker of the engines you already have to show up on Ebay and parting them out.

Precision Scale and bowser sell a handfull of different sized rods that you may get lucky on. They also sell a couple different valve gear kits that can be adapted to your engines, but as said above, you will becoming a scratchbuilder/kitbasher in short order to get the parts you need.
