I received my new Trix Mike last week and have been enjoying very much. I hope to do a write up on it at some point.
My question is: Has anyone replaced the very “orange” LED headlight for a more realistic one? Trix has done an excellent job of making access to the gears a one-step operation. You remove one long screw from the bottom side of the gear box (between the drivers) and the whole boiler and cab lift right off. (Wish my Athearn Mike were that easy.)
Once the boiler is off, there’s a shorter screw on the underside of the boiler that looks like it should remove part of a boiler panel. From the exploded view of the parts drawing, the panel comes off. I’m somewhat leary about trying to pry if off in fear of breaking something. I’m looking to get inside the boiler to get to the circuit board that should hold the LED. The front part of the boiler also has a notch on the underside but the exploded drawing doesn’t show it coming apart.
Anyway, I was just curious if anyone has done this or not.
