Repo or Real? Pyro Military Loads

Hi folks…

Is there a way to distinguish vinatge 1950’s Pyro military grey Lionel loads from those being reproduced now? I think even the repos have the Pyro logo stamped underside of the truck roof. Thanks, have a great weekend. Dave

Yes the logo is different on the reproductions. An original PYRO has “Made in USA” around the PYRO stamping, whereas the repro’s only say PYRO without the made in USA. That is the only way to tell the real from the repro.

Thank you teledoc. Very valuable information - I appreciate that you took the time to respond. blessings to you and yours,

Dave

Is there a good source for the Pyro repro’s that anyone knows of? I looked a while ago, but never found anything. I am looking for the tank. Thanks for any help!

Watch for them on Ebay. I see them occassionally. I know I saw some on a couple web sites from parts suppliers too. Just don’t recall whose it was.

Roger

When the reproductions were released, they were available from every parts dealer I knew of. It’s been a while, I don’t know who still has them.

Thanks guys!

You might try Olsens. I saw some in one of the papers they sent me. I found parts only at some dealers but no tank.

Roger

Thanks Roger. No luck. I will keep my eyes open.

There are a few on the 'bay now

Despite what the ad says, those are not Lionel loads. They are the wrong color, and I don’t think they used the open vehicle carrying men, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen them with figures.
I had several NOS Lionel cars with Pyro loads at one time. Unfortunately I let them go when I had a lapse in my interest of Lionel Military.,
