Sounds like CP doesn’t give a shit.
Of course CP doesn’t care…we are talking E. Hunter Harrison and cronies here. The only thing that matters is money to shareholders…the customers, employees, and public interest be damned!
I don’t think you should allow postings that use vulgar four letter words. They fall under my definition of “offensive language”. People who resort to these words in writing should be considered functionally illiterate.
Examine the AMT timetables and you will easily see why AMT wants more control especially to improve the service outside of rush hours. Nowadays a lot of workers do not work 9 to 5. The equipment is available but not he crews.
The unions with their inflexible work rules are the losers here. Layoffs coming. Can’t blame CP for wanting to get out of the passenger business. Same as Conrail. Their business (and profit) is in freight.
Interesting cite of AMT on ‘Wikipedia’. AMT ranks #1 on punctuality of service of North American commuter services at 97.1%. That’s pretty good, CPR! Can anyone do better? Also, a photo in the cite shows push-pull double-decker car #3022. It appears to have a 10-bell horn! Who makes those (and why)? Maybe they could use some of them in Odessa, TX.
I do not believe that it is a coincidence that CP recently “lost” operating West Coast Express commuter trains in Vancouver. They are now operated by Bombardier staffed with a least some ex-CP employees. Now if only another operator could be found to operate CP 2816, because Harrison certainly will not.
