Hey guys. August 3rd and 4th, We went out to Rochelle. We went to spend the night in De Kalb. The hotel window looked right out at the tracks. We got woke up by trains all during the night, but there’s nothing at all wrong with that! [;)] It was very busy at Rochelle. We saw UP, BNSF, SP Power, Patched CNW SD40-2 #3043 with the UP patch ripped off the front, lol, CSX on the BNSF, BN, SF, MRL power on the UP 5th engine, lots of NS power behind UP, Conrail behind UP, lots of ACe’s and GEVO’s, SD70M’s, SD40-2’s, GP38AC’s, GP38-2’s, C40-8’s, B40-8’s but not leading, GP50, AC44’s including patched and unpatched SP’s, and CSX power behind UP. I’d say we were there on Wednesday from about Noon to 8:00 and Thursday from about 7:30 AM - 1:30. Here are some photos that I got into Railpictures.net from the Rochelle Railroad Park.
http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=114529 This was a nice five engine lash-up. UP SD70M 4391, a UP GP38-2, a pair of UP SD40-2’s, and an MRL SD45 pass under the CNW Signal Bridge at the park. I’ve never seen MRL power on the UP before.
