I have never seen a decent representation of this species of tree on a HO layout. Does anyone know of a way to model this type of tree most common in the southeast?
Try Woodland Scenics conifer kit. You have some control because you make them yourself. I would substitute lighter ground foam than what is supplied in the package. I usually cut off a few branches & don’t let the top come to a point. also remember to twist the trunk so the branches are on all sides. Jerry
There is an ad on the back cover of the latest MR that shows somebody’s new RTR trees. The tree in the center of the group looks sorta like a yellow pine.
You are right, but it also looks like a lot of money!!
For small trees, furnace filter on a stick will make many trees for a nickle a piece and 50 in an hour. For large trees, Caspia in a dowel will give great trees. Less than $1.00 but they take a while. I have lots of examples in my pics in my sig.
If you are unfamiliar with these tree making techniques, I can give more more detail here or in a private message. They are not hard to make, though a true artist can make better trees than I.
