I bought a frends trains and digitrax stuff and i want to reprogram the decoders and I dont know what numbers He used , I’ve looked for help in the books but didnt find anything . Ive had mine shut down for 2 years and for got how to do it. Any help would be helpful thanks. Boxcar
If you program on the program track it won’t matter what the current settings are, just program the address you want to use and it will overwrite whatever may be in there.
If you have a Zephyr or DCS100 (Chief or Super Chief), you can read the current values back from the programming track.

Also, most recent decoders have a way to reset them to their default factory values, usually by stuffing a value in a particular CV, which you may want to do if he did a lot of fancy programming to it (speed tables and such). If you can determine the type of decoders are in the locos, you can usually find the manuals for them on the vendor’s website.
