Ok all you highly intelligent and web savy poersons I need help again.
I need the best web sites to find information!
the information I need would be good well orginized and reputable places to find info on building layout and track work and places to order supplies from I am looking for the stuff above the begginer level as most is written very dry and dull as to not confuse people I have a dictionary so I can look up the big words plus my wife will help.
Thanks.
Jfugates site is already bookmarked man that guy has fantastic talent.
you may even include your own websites I will bookmark the ones I need.
Plus as an added bonus you could be listing a site some others may not know about (ie me)
Although this may not be exactly the type of response you’re looking for, I’ll give you the method that I’ve used for finding sites on the web.
Other than using Google to search for specific topics, I’ve extensively used TrainNet’s list of International Railway Links at: http://www.tadlane.com/rrlinks.htm , Railserve’s Hypertext Switchyard: http://www.railserve.com/ and the NMRA’s Directory of World Wide Rail Sites: http://cwrr.com/nmra/
I took a little time each day to visit almost all of the sites listed in each directory, and saved the ones I particularly liked in my Favorites list. Although it’s slow, it’s the best method I know of to generate a list of sites which you yourself would find to be useful.
Despite being slow, it’s tremendously interesting.
That being said, one site that contains a lot of interesting techniques is Gilbert Gribi’s Le Monde du modelisme. Although it’s in French, you can first go to Altavista’s Babelfish site at: http://babelfish.altavista.com/ and go to the Translate a Web Page section. Enter French to English from the list provided, and enter the following for the webpage: http://www.home.worldcom.ch/gribig/ You’ll wind up with a “good enough” translation.
