Wayne,There’s been a steady growth in rail shipments for the pass few years in fact many railroads are increasing their yard capacities.

The rail resurgence started back in the 1980’s after Staggers was passed. For the last decade or two the railroads have been investing billions of dollars in capital improvements every year (the UP’s capital plan is over $3 billion for 2012).
High fuel prices certainly help rail vs truck on long hauls. When Buffett bought BNSF several years ago, it got a lot of people looking.

Dave,That is correct but,the railroads wasn’t expecting the growth rate of the past few years and the continuing growth.
