Retiring Locomotives

Most of all CSX’s (and ex Conrail) older power has been put aside.[sigh][:(] There C30’s and C36’s are widdowed down to a few… or none! other power are also gone (or going). What is next to go??[%-)]

Well on Norfolk Southern, SD50s and C39-8s are going fast. CSX sold their 32-8s and 36-7s from Conrail to NS, who retired them in late 2000[:(]

I also noticed awhile back, two dead MLW locos tagging along with a CSX freight in Kingston. They had the word “SLC”? on the cab.[?][%-)] while railfaning, a CSX train came by but noticed a orange unit in trail and it was a CF-7 but i don’t know if it was going to a repair shop or another line.

I like to bring something old back up because you never know whats out there…[;)][:D][swg]

I ve seen some old boats used for mow service here on csx.Haven’t seen them for awhile though. Will keep looking.

I see former Conrail GP-15-1 # 1501( used to see GP-15-1 #1507, but , not recently) almost every day(mostly where it’s parked in Brunswick,Maine, as it only runs 3 or 4 days of the week), so some of the older power still remains. These two units are leased from Locomotive Leasing Partners(LLPX) by Safe Handling Rail Inc, which, I understand has lost the rail contract. Anyway, I’m enjoying them while they last here! Someone wished Alcos[:0] on us for after the Geeps leave…Let’s hope not[:D]!. P.S. They are still Conrail Blue[:)], but, they’ve had thier Conrail logos painted over.

SLC is San Luis Central railroad (Ed Burkhardt & others owns, a very old (1913) shortline that runs from Center, CO to Buena Vista/Alamosa, CO)…moving to some other Railworld property under short term reporting marks? SLC runs with one SW-8 most days…
