Revamp Yardupdate (pictures)

Thought I would share some of the progress pictures with you of my redesigned yard and engine service area. As you can see, there are plenty more things to be done including: soldering, track painting, ground cover, ballasting, and on and on. I have posted more pictures on my web storage at http://www.railimages.com/gallery/rexheacock Please Visit!

Wow, looks like youve been busy! Good progress pics, looking really nice!

Nice Rex

Email you later.

Ken.

I like your layout, track work, and structures on your layout!

Dang!

Makes my Hogwart’s project look a little wimpy.

Looks good, Rex! Keep up the good work! (Wish I had that much room in my basement.) BTW, what’s the spacing in your yard and what code are you using?

Tom

I’m drooling! Beautiful work, Rex. By the way, what’s the minimum radius on your wrap-around trackage?
Tom

Thanks for the flowers everyone. Yes, I have been busy with this part of the layout. Getting the alignment for all the functions of the service facility was probably the hardest work I’ve done to date. I guess I got the track installed right because the Lionel Challenger navigates in all without a derail. [:D]
Oh well, plenty more to do.

The track spacing in yard is 2.5 inches. A bit tight, but manageable. I use code 83, Atlas Flex with Walthers turnouts throughout the layout. Most of the turnouts are #5’s with a couple #4’s.

The radius is 28" on the outside and 26" on the inside. The width of the bench at the curve is 5 feet. I’ll never make an area that wide again. It sure strains my middle to work on the middle.[xx(][:D]

Toatally awsome!!! Keep up the good work!

Impressive. Track work looks very smooth.
I’m jealous of your space. [|)]
