Is That some thing that you have had all these years, or are they still making those? I can’t remember how old I was when I had one of those, but it was many years ago, I will be 44 in less than a month. Those were really cool.

Well I had the Blimp in '75 when I was 10.I found an unbuilt kit at a fleamarket a few weeks ago that was missing some parts.I found the parts on the airship forum and just completed painting and decaling it! Came out pretty well but it sure is noisy!Despite the fact that I oiled the gears and armature with Labelle 102 oil!
Interesting never seen one of those before. In one of the possible layouts i was thinking about building thought about building a race track in the set up close to what it is at one of the Nascar tracks. Think it was Darlinton or Bristol but can’t remember for sure but remember each year watching a race and seeing a train passing through just outside the track. Something to keep an eye out for or figure out how to build a scratch version of.
I had one back when they first came out. Back then the TV commercials talked about the blimp and B.F. Goodrich also made cracks about the blimp. So, naturally I went an made my model a Goodrich blimp.
I wonder if there is a modern programable display that could be fitted in replacing the rotated drum?
Any way to tether that blimp from your ceiling? A modern one of these with a programmable digital display would be really cool.
I have a Mattel Verti-Bird helicopter that ends up on my layouts from time to time. Positioned correctly, items can be picked up off the train with the helicopter’s under-body hook.
Cool item.
Yes I wonde if Miller Engineering could come up with a programmable display for the Blimp.Just think if you could load images and text to a flash drive and plug it into the blimp! That would really rock!It may be expensive though! As for the VERTI bird I sure have fond memories of it!I got it for christmas of '73 and played with it for hours.Unfortunately I left the batteries in it and it caused severe corrosion and i had to throw it out!I see modern re-creations of the Vertibird but they are not as good and they reversed the controls! That is why the originals on E-bay are so expensive!
