Revell Plastic Models - Nuclear Power Plant Kitl

A long time age I seem to remember Revell offering a model of a Nuclear Power Plant… Does anyone remember this and if so, are there any st[?]ill available.

I remember a nuke plant kit in the science catalogs I got as a kid. I don’t think these were offered under the Revell name though. I am pretty sure they were around 1/144 scale models.

But did they come with a pale green light to make them glow in the dark?

here is two on ebay

I had one when I was a kid. Its long gone though.

There is a paper model of a nuclear plant currently available.

Blue, not green, but only if you’re modeling post-meltdown Chernobyl. The Three Mile Island meltdown was contained, so the radiation exposure to the locals was about equivalent to that experienced every day in Vail, CO.

A nuke plant might be an interesting background model, but it wouldn’t generate much rail traffic - just a carload or two every ten years or so.

It looks like the Revell kits have been going for well over $300 on eBay, so they are out there.

if you want to model nuclear industry, try modeling nuclear waste disposal in utah or nevada. Envirocare is the company in utah and we get quite a bit of toxic rail traffic right through salt lake

Interesting kit by the sounds of it, and rather sought after. I wonder if Revell would consider re-issuing it?

You know how Hollywood and the toy manufacturers like to overdo everything.

Remember “The China Syndrome?”

This one looks like the same one as Tomkat’s first link from Ebay. No sense paying over retail on Ebay for something currently available.

What that kit needs is a little bald fat figure in a white shirt and blue pants, holding a donut. And a DCC-ready sound system that plays back “DOH!” when you hit the button. [(-D]

I saw that same kit in the walthers flyer I got a couple days ago. It’s labelled as HO but when I saw it advertised in a Con-Cor flyer as N scale years ago.
