Reverse loops and rail crossings

I have a couple of reverse loops on my layout and have been thinking about adding another main line, it will have to cross the reverse loop track. Can I use RR crossings as they are or will it short out? How is the best way of doing this? Are different brands of RR crossings wired differently? Do RR crossings make a "clickity-clack when the trains cross ofer them? So many questions… Thanks. Mike

Mike, Commercial crossings should give you no difficulty. You don’t have to wire them at all, just cut them into your existing track. They will pick up power from the connecting rails. You should get lots of clickity-clack. You will have to figure out what angle diamonds to get and may have to adjust the route of your new line to match the closet possible fit.
