Review of BLMA hobbies pls

Anyone use BLMA hobbies? Do they have good prices and customer service? Their web site is found here: http://www.blmamodels.com/cgi-bin/webstore/shop.cgi?c=start.htm&t=main.index.htm&storeid=1. I thought to ask since they look like they have unique details for layouts.

TIA!

I haven’t had to deal with their customer service yet. I’ve built one signal bridge kit so far and it went together just great. Their details look great also. I used to think their prices were on the high side but after putting together a signal bridge kit from another mfg. I think they are worth it.

I second that they have pretty useful details, decently manufacturered. I ordered from Walthers so I cannot give info about their customer service, but their parts are good (need painting in most cases) - I have their Jersey Barriers, Concrete panel grade crossing (very good), rubber grade crossing (good, not sure how it compares to Walthers own), Electrical boxes (very nicely done, didn’t paint them yet, not sure if I should bother, look nice on their own), Air conditioners (haven’t assembled yet, I’ll paint these light grey or biege), and the porta-potties (OK, but still, rather nice castings).
I’d say go for it, the stuff is good and actually not all that badly priced (plus they sometimes are on sale at walthers).

I have ordered direct, super fast shipping/communication etc.

The BLMA yard offfice building was purchaced by the local club for use as an office building for the grain elevator on the layout.

The building was assembled not a kit. After masking off the building the roof was painted aluminum and weathered. The awning over the door painted light grey. A few vehicles and some small bushes and weeds really added to the scene. The building is excellent and could be left as it comes in the box or repainted to your roads colour scheme. The “glass” is in the windows so some careful masking is needed when doing the window sashes.

Indeed…I like that yard office so well I plan on buying the N Scale version to use at the N Scale club.

Here’s my HO office.
