Review of MRC Prodigy Advance Wireless Cab

Here is a review of the new MRC Prodigy Advance Wireless Cab. The wireless link operates on 433 MHz. Does that mean that this unit can be used in europe where 900MHz is not allowed?

Digitrax, NCE, EASYDCC, TrainCam, LGB (USA) = 900 MHz band covering 900MHz to 922MHz.
Lionel TMCC: 26.75MHz
AristoCraft: 27MHz
LocoLink: 75.4MHz

Give me a comment please…

Don’t things have to be certified for use in Europe for wireless? Just because it has moved out of the 900Mhz range does not mean that it is not now in a range that conflicts with some other important system. I would check with MRC and see what they say about their ability to supply to foreign markets.

The rumour is that there will be a DT500 2 way wireless from Digitrax available this winter. One of the reasons for a new radio throttle is to get in to the European market. Maybe it is worth waiting for?

That sounds really interesting. I will keep my eyes open. Thanks for telling me.

MRC make this unit for an English comany (Gaugemaster) who re-badge it and as far as I am aware sales of the non wireless units are doing well so maybe there is sufficient demand in Europe for wireless DCC, who knows only time will tell.
