Richfield, WI "Quiet Zone"

FYI, there’s a discussion on another forum on the quiet zone that is being put in place in relatively rural Richfield, WI (northwest of Milwaukee):

Oh sure now the people now turn there foucas on Northern Wisconsin. Next they will be looking at making west allis a quiet zone Or even better waukesha were at every street has a railroad crossing.

Northern Wisconsin??? Richfield is in Washington County…

Basically, a quiet zone will go in wherever the whiners whine enough about the “noisy trains” to get their local officials to take the steps to quiet the train horns. And of course, there will have to be related crossing mods to keep the idiots from going around the gates (although I understand that Richfield has already had people running over their barriers…). Good thing the FRA made the new rules, so cities actually have to do something to get their quiet laws passed!

Maybe all the horns should be replaced with calliopes. That would really give 'em something to whine about.

BIG MISTAKE!
Allan.

Yeah but you do know if all the states would accpect a quite zone law then people. Would start to sue the RR’s for their family members getting hurt or even killed because.
The train crew was unable to blow their horns when they came up to a crossing.
