Ridership up on Amtrak Michigan services

I would think that it’s only a matter of time before Michigan cuts off it’s money for the two routes it supports.

Looking good Michigan. Now how about a line from Detroit & Lansing up the center of the State to The Bridge?

American Red Cross listed at goodsearch.com & isearchigive.com .

This is good news and kind of undercuts all the naysayers who suggested support for public transport in Detroit shouldn’t be improved in an earlier story this week.

Why does it take hours, sometimes days, for comments to appear on this site when clearly no-one is actually manually reviewing the comments?

I’d buy into that. And ride the thing. A lot.

One million passengers a year is in the near future, with all of the upgrades and investments into the rail infrastructure. Our tax dollars in Michigan should support more improvements to passenger rail transportation.

"… a positive focus on the future of rail travel… " That’s music to my ears. The public is getting it, some smart state governments are getting it - a big chunk of the passenger transportation future can be summed up in two, melodic words: “All aboard!”

Judging by the actions of the Michigan governor, Greg, I wouldn’t be surprised.

I wonder how much the subsidy was to accomplish these ridership numbers?
BTW George the Great Lakes Central RR plans on running a passenger train from Ann Arbor to Traverse City and possibly Peroskey

On the contrary Greg, if what you say actually does happen, then Michigan has no business building the new bridge downriver from Detroit, either. The former Michigan Central line’s days as a major freight carrier are over, but it has great passenger potential to serve the many of Michigan’s great colleges and universities along its line.
