I just back from Port Colborne Ont. Ca. Saw the set on of a number of rail cars, speeders, inspection cars, gang cars. I now a’m hopesly hooked on the idea. In doing Internet reserch came across thishttp://www.fairmonttamper.com/images/Polaris.JPG. Anybody seen one?? Are they for sale to private owners? I just like the idea of new , out of the box with warrenty. Any opinions appreciated[:)]
Your site said page error. thought i would
tell you.
thier are “speeder” clubs… and people that buy them and restore them…alot of the clubs also workout deals with alot of short lines to use thier tracks for a weekend as a get together of a chaper or how ever thier originzation is set up… they do it here once a year on a local short line by my place…and its a big draw…see about 30 or 40 differnt speeders all going by for a weekend ride on the rails…with all differnt railroad names… is a sight to see

I know, I must be doing someting wrong. If you type the adress in manually it goes. Go figure dave
The heck with Lionel and all the interior space. This looks like the ultimate hoot. And All the people were Very friendly and openly gracious. They all asked me if I (we) wanted a ride. I declined as there was a open house at Central Terminal in Buffalo @ 11.00 am. @ central-terminal I expected About 50 people max there was in my opinion 500. I want to be a club member, back up set on and go. What about the Polasis???
Polaris
It is including the period at the end of your sentence with the website address. To fix it, put a space between the address and the period, enclose the address in parenthesis, or enclose the address in {url} at the front and {/url} at the back only replace the { with [ and } with ].
W.W.Carey - They are built in Spirit Lake, (NW) Iowa with the rest of Polaris’ ATV’s & Victory Motorcycles…They haven’t sold a lot of them, not much of a market.
(Fairmont & Polaris Jointly Marketing…you will find a related thread in the old postings here…)
Never seen one like that. Pretty cool.
By the way, when putting links in the forum, watch out for punctuation. The period at the end messed it up. Good practice to put links on a line of their own , then test them with the preview, before posting.
wow
thats an atv worth having.
stay safe

Why is there a steering wheel?
You could probably take the flanged wheels off and replace them with regular tires.[?][?]
Thats friggin awsome! I never thought to use one of my ATVs…
hehehehehehehe

…It appears the “extra” wheels / tires are on the back of it {in the pic.}, avail. to be installed to take it off the rails and to use it elsewhere. Of course the steering must be lockable as used on the rails, etc…A neat appearing rig and one that looks like it would provide a lot of fun, but it must be expensive.
The title of this thread disturbs me.
In no way does owning one of these things make it “legal” for you to put it on the rails and go your merry way. The meet you saw, and others like it, are hosted at a specific time by the railroad owning the tracks–a shortline, most likely–and if you tried to go there any other time of the year you’d be run off their track just as quickly as if you were on the BNSF Transcon or the UP Overland route!
Sorry–I hate to burst anyone’s bubbles.

If you are truly interested in speeders, I’d do as CSX suggested and try to locate a speeder club and do it legally and safely.

…Personally, that’s what I thought the conversation was referring too…Running the rig on the rails with a group and with permission…Hope no one would try to do otherwise.
w w carey: Here’s a tip; www.NARCOA.org This site will give you an arm load of information. I know, I am a member and Fairmont motorcar owner.
P.S. CShaveRR is absolutely correct. You just don’t get a car and head for the tracks. You join a club and join them on a sponsored trip.

ok…now that i have seen the pic of what you want…first off…that is NOT out of the box…that is a modifed vehical… secnond… it is not a true speeder car…and quite frankly… since its not a true speeder…it is crap… 3rd… i dont know if a speeder cubl would even reconize that as a speeder for you to be allowed to go out with them on a weekend cruse…
and im sure that who ever put the railroad wheels on this as voided any factory warnenty they might have had…
